Characteristics of the Carbon Filter
The active carbon based filter can handle the quick changes in the water quality because of the high level of absorption as well as the large spectrum of materials absorbed.
The carbon has the property to physically and chemically attract particles dissolved in liquid or gas, and the degree of attraction depends on the type, dimension and structure of that particular material.
The Fabrication Process of Active Carbon
- The carbonization of raw materials (coconut). It takes place at 400° C, followed by washing and drying.
- Activation – it takes place at 900-1000° C, through activating agents, followed by cooling in a fast cooling system, to avoid oxidation.
- Checking the dimensions, the absorption degree and the density.
