The Financial Point of View

The price of the bottled water is small, unlike the price of PET, the cap, the label, the bottling, storage and transport costs. For bigger vessels, the ratio becomes less favorable, but there are problems related to the storage place, and the difficulty of transport and of manipulation. Another problem would be profitability, few people being able to empty at once a water bottle, and if you open a bottle it is recommended you empty it in a short a time, in order to prevent the multiplication of bacterium, as their multiplication rate is exponential.

The Ecologic Point of View

It is a well known fact that disposable packages used to bottle water are not environmentally friendly, a plastic bottle becoming biodegradable after hundreds of years. Statistics show that 90% of plastic bottles are thrown in the trash, their cremation releases toxic waste, whilst heavy metals or other compounds deposited in the ashes can reach the water (panza freatica). Ironically, people drink bottled water because they do not trust tap water, but because of the waste produced by plastic bottles, the water is increasingly polluted. It is a vicious circle, the water consumption leading to people's wellbeing, but also to the ill-being of the planet.
