The balance of water in the human body - water contribution
For an adult person that lives in a temperate climate, performs a moderate physical effort (35 cal/body kilo/day) and has a balanced diet, the daily water contribution is of approximately 2.500 ml. (approximately 1 ml/consumed kilocal. or 30-35 ml/body kilo). Compulsory contribution - water in solid foods (approximately 800-1000 ml/day) and water resulted from the metabolism of proteins, glucose and lipids (approximately 300ml/day). Adjustable contribution - it is represented by liquids (approx. 1200 ml/day).
The elimination of water can be done in four different ways: through the skin, through the lungs, through digestion and through the kidneys. The elimination of water through the skin can be: perspiratio sensibilis (perspiration), which at a normal temperature (20?C) and moderate physical effort is about 200-300 ml/day or by perspiratio insensibilis (water evaporating through the skin) which in normal conditions is about 300-600 ml/day. Water loss through perspiration can increase up to 10-14 l/day (in intense working conditions at a high temperature), while perspiratio insensibilis can increase in case of fever up to about 300ml/day for every degree Celsius over 37. Pulmonary elimination, represents 200-400ml/day in a perspiratio insensibilis process similar to the cutaneous one. Through hyperventilation, the loss of water increases by 150ml/hour. Digestive losses, of about 200 ml/day, decrease a great deal in case of constipation, increasing( up to 1-2 l/day) in case of diarrhea. Water elimination through the kidneys is about 1000-1500 ml/day.
